Oak Gall Workshop Poster

DENMAN+GOULD

I was commissioned to design and illustrate marketing materials for a seasonal woodland workshop hosted by DENMAN+GOULD.

Set amidst the autumnal splendor of Ninesprings Country Park, the workshop delved into the traditional art of crafting ink from oak galls, a method historically used in the creation of archival inks.

Oak galls, rich in tannins, form on oak trees as a result of wasp larvae. Participants were guided through the fascinating process of transforming these natural formations into a rich, long-lasting ink. From sourcing and preparing the galls to blending the final product, once the ink was ready, the group explored through drawing and mark-making, collecting the trees shadows on paper.
