How to be a Scout
HODDER & STOUGHTON
As the illustrator for How to Be a Scout, I had the incredible opportunity to bring Bear Grylls' adventurous world to life through 150 dynamic illustrations. Each page was designed to visually complement the wealth of survival tips and skills, from pitching tents to identifying stars and British wildlife. My goal was to create engaging, accessible visuals that would inspire Scouts of all ages to dive into the content with enthusiasm.
Working with a mix of detailed instructional diagrams and vibrant scene illustrations, I aimed to make complex survival techniques easy to understand and visually appealing. The challenge was to balance educational clarity with a sense of adventure, ensuring each illustration enhanced the book’s practical and motivational spirit.
This project was not only about creating useful illustrations but about inspiring readers to embrace their adventurous spirit and learn skills that can make a real difference!
